Zimbabwe’s commercial forestry is concentrated in the high-rainfall Eastern Highlands — Mutare, Chimanimani, Nyanga and Penhalonga — where pine and wattle plantations feed a full timber value chain, worked by Allied Timbers, Border Timbers and the Manica/Tarka estates.   • Mountain-road capability — steep gradients, tight bends and wet-season conditions; trucks rated for the climb and descent with the braking to match
  • Load securing — round logs and long poles bolstered, chained and stanchioned to standard for every load, on and off the highway
  • Weather protection — sawn, dressed and packaged timber moved enclosed or sheeted to keep it dry and market-ready

Permits & compliance

  • Over-length permits — logs and beams exceeding deck length need ZINARA abnormal permits and may require escorts; allow lead time (see Project & Special Cargo)
  • Treatment-chemical compliance — CCA and timber-treatment chemicals move under ADR with MSDS and correct placarding
  • Export documentation — Forestry Commission and ZIMRA clearance for timber export; ECTS sealing for cargo transiting Mozambique to Beira
