ContentsOur responsibility
We are committed to operating lawfully, responsibly and with integrity across our activities in Zimbabwe, South Africa and every market in which we work. This Code of Ethics sets the standards expected of our directors, employees, representatives and anyone acting on behalf of Wyvern Freight.
We also expect our vendors, carriers, subcontractors, agents and other business partners to conduct themselves consistently with these principles.
1Our responsibility
Everyone representing Wyvern Freight is expected to act honestly, professionally and in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and company policies.
Where applicable law requires a higher standard than this Code, that higher standard must be followed.
No delivery deadline, customer demand or commercial objective justifies unlawful, dishonest or unsafe conduct.
2Integrity and honest business
We conduct business honestly and fairly.
Information provided to customers, suppliers, authorities and business partners must be accurate to the best of our knowledge and must not deliberately mislead or conceal material facts.
Wyvern Freight does not tolerate fraud, theft, deliberate falsification of records, dishonest claims or misuse of company property or resources.
3Anti-bribery and corruption
Wyvern Freight has zero tolerance for bribery and corruption.
No employee, representative or business partner acting on our behalf may offer, promise, request, give or accept anything of value for the purpose of improperly influencing a commercial, customs, regulatory or government decision.
This includes improper payments made indirectly through agents, consultants, subcontractors or other third parties.
Facilitation payments, and unofficial payments intended to improperly speed up routine processes, are not acceptable. This applies at border posts, weighbridges, roadblocks and customs offices.
If a payment is requested
- Do not pay.
- Record the details.
- Report it immediately through the channels in Speak up.
This commitment reflects our obligations under South Africa's Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act and Zimbabwe's Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.
4Gifts and hospitality
Reasonable hospitality may form part of legitimate business relationships.
However, gifts, entertainment, travel or hospitality must never be offered or accepted where they could improperly influence, or appear to influence, a business decision.
Cash or cash-equivalent gifts must not be offered or accepted. Gifts or hospitality must never be offered to public officials, including customs and border officials.
Where there is uncertainty, the matter should be disclosed before proceeding.
5Conflicts of interest
Business decisions must be made in the interests of Wyvern Freight and without improper personal influence.
Employees and representatives should avoid circumstances in which personal, financial or family interests could conflict with their responsibilities to the company.
Potential conflicts should be disclosed promptly so they can be assessed and appropriately managed.
6Fair competition and responsible trade
Wyvern Freight competes fairly.
We do not participate in price fixing, bid manipulation, market allocation or other arrangements intended to improperly restrict competition, in line with the competition laws of South Africa, Zimbabwe and the regional markets we serve.
We respect applicable customs, trade, import, export, sanctions and border-control requirements, including those administered by SARS and ZIMRA.
Documentation relating to freight movements must be accurate and complete. Wyvern Freight will not knowingly participate in the misdescription, concealment or unlawful movement of goods.
7People and human rights
Every person should be treated with dignity and respect.
Wyvern Freight does not tolerate unlawful discrimination, harassment, intimidation, violence or degrading treatment.
We reject forced labour, human trafficking, debt bondage and unlawful child labour.
We expect vendors, carriers and subcontractors working within our supply chain to uphold comparable standards.
8Safety and responsible logistics
No delivery is more important than safety.
Employees, drivers, contractors and carriers involved in Wyvern Freight operations must comply with applicable road laws, transport regulations and operational safety requirements in every country they drive through.
Vehicles and equipment must be fit for purpose and operated responsibly. Drivers must be rested, and no one may drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Loads must be secured appropriately. Dangerous, hazardous or regulated goods may only be accepted, handled and transported in accordance with applicable requirements.
Unsafe driving, reckless conduct, deliberate violations of traffic law and avoidable risks to people, cargo or property are unacceptable.
9Customers
Our customers trust us with their cargo, information and commercial relationships.
We aim to communicate honestly about our services, pricing, shipment status and operational capabilities.
Customer information must be handled responsibly and used only for legitimate purposes.
Where delays, exceptions or other operational issues occur, our objective is to communicate clearly and work toward an appropriate resolution.
10Vendors, carriers and business partners
Our ethical standards extend through our supply chain.
We expect vendors, carriers, customs agents, consultants, subcontractors and other business partners working for or with Wyvern Freight to operate lawfully, safely and ethically.
They must not engage in bribery, fraud, unsafe transport practices, forced labour or deliberate breaches of applicable customs, transport or trade requirements. Specific expectations are set out in our Vendor Code of Conduct.
11Information, privacy and confidentiality
Our operations involve confidential and personal information belonging to customers, employees, vendors and other business partners.
This may include shipment information, pricing, contracts, financial information, identification records and commercially sensitive data.
Information must only be accessed, used, shared and retained for authorised and legitimate purposes, in accordance with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and Zimbabwe's Cyber and Data Protection Act.
Employees and representatives must take reasonable steps to protect systems, passwords, devices and documents against loss, misuse or unauthorised access.
12Accurate records and company resources
Our records must accurately reflect our business activities.
Invoices, expense claims, customs documentation, shipment records and financial entries must not knowingly contain false or misleading information.
Company funds, vehicles, fuel, equipment, systems and other resources must be used responsibly and for authorised purposes.
Fraudulent claims, theft and deliberate misuse of company resources are unacceptable.
13Environment and communities
Transport and logistics have an environmental and social impact.
Wyvern Freight aims to comply with applicable environmental requirements and to find practical ways to reduce waste, unnecessary fuel consumption and avoidable environmental harm.
Environmental incidents, spills and significant hazards connected with our operations must be reported and addressed promptly.
