Open-platform trailer for any-side loading by forklift or crane. Covers tridem semi-trailers and interlink combinations for the broadest spread of general and project freight.
Trailer Solutions Built for Every Load
Ten Afrit-verified trailer families — flatdeck, sliding-curtain, side-tipper, reefer, lowbed and more — operating inside the SADC harmonised road-transport envelope. We match the trailer to your cargo, your route conditions and your operating limits, on our own fleet across the Southern African corridors.
One fleet, ten trailer families.
No two shipments share the same size, weight, handling, loading method, route or delivery profile. The trailer has to fit the cargo and the corridor — not the other way around. Wyvern Freight runs ten distinct trailer families so the right equipment is always on the load.
Every capacity, tare and Gross Combination Mass figure on this page is verified against Afrit manufacturer specifications — our primary OEM. Our model codes (F21, T21, S7, SD8) align directly with Afrit’s product nomenclature, and all combinations operate inside the SADC harmonised road-transport envelope.
From palletised FMCG and bulk minerals to cold chain, containers and abnormal heavy haul, the fleet is specced to keep cargo safe, loading efficient and transit legal from depot to destination.
Limits per SA NRTA Act 93 of 1996, Regulation 237 (SADC harmonised). Afrit-published payloads are GCM minus a 9,500 kg reference truck tare minus trailer tare; actual payload varies with tractor, axle configuration and options.
Trailer types & what they carry.
Ten Afrit-built trailer families, each engineered for a different cargo profile. Specifications below are the manufacturer-verified figures for our operating configurations.
Afrit’s volume work-horse — a tautliner for FMCG and palletised freight. Curtain sides give fast, weather-protected access for retail line-haul and DC-to-DC distribution.
Afrit’s flagship and the best-selling interlink in SADC. Side-discharge bins from 18 m³ to 50 m³ built for bulk mineral and aggregate haulage at full legal mass.
Versatile interlink with hinged dropsides for fast loading and offloading. Available with 800 mm or 1.2 m sidewalls for agricultural and general freight.
Rear-tipping semi-trailer with extended wheelbase and an under-bin stabiliser for safe tipping. Bin volumes from 22 m³ to 43 m³ for civil and short-haul bulk.
Single semi-trailer with a stepped deck for over-height equipment, fitted with hydraulic ramps and a power-pack. Up to 60-ton design capacity in the four-axle abnormal model.
Detachable-neck heavy-haul trailer for abnormal loads up to 75 tonnes. Models above 30-ton standard payload run under RTMC abnormal-load permits with route surveys, escort vehicles and pilot cars.
Aluminium top on a high-tensile steel chassis with a hydraulic walking-floor system and mechanical headboard. Discharges up to 33 tonnes of loose bulk in around 12 minutes — no tipping required.
Cold-chain reefer built to specification on a composite-fibre insulated panel body with a Carrier Vector or Thermo King unit. Dual / tri-temp configurations from +25 °C to −25 °C.
Lightweight 20 ft / 40 ft container chassis with twist-lock mounts, fixed-length or retractable. Tare-optimised so payloads exceed 35 tonnes on the lightest 13.2 m tridem.

| Cargo type | Recommended trailer | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Bulk minerals — copper, cobalt, chrome, coal, ore | S7 Side Tipper | Side-discharge bins 18–50 m³ at full 56,000 kg GCM. The Copperbelt-to-port work-horse. |
| Palletised FMCG, retail & ambient goods | T21 Sliding Curtain | Weather-protected curtain access for fast DC-to-DC line-haul; up to 37,980 kg. |
| General freight, steel, timber, pipes, project cargo | F21 Flatdeck | Any-side forklift/crane loading; up to 39,900 kg on the lightweight interlink. |
| Temperature-controlled — frozen, chilled, pharma | Refrigerator | +25 to −25 °C, dual / tri-temp; 33 Euro pallets. Cold chain held end-to-end. |
| Containers — 20 ft / 40 ft, ISO tanks, reefers | Skeletal | Twist-lock chassis, fixed or retractable; payloads over 35 t on the lightest tridem. |
| Abnormal & over-mass — plant, transformers, beams | Lowbed | Detachable neck up to 75 t. RTMC permit, route survey & escorts arranged. |
| Over-height plant & yellow-metal machinery | SD8 Stepdeck | Stepped deck clears the 4.3 m height limit; hydraulic ramps for self-drive loading. |
| Loose bulk that cannot be tipped — woodchips, RDF, feed | Moving Floor | Walking-floor discharge of up to 33 t in ~12 min; 50–107 m³. |
| Civil bulk — sand, stone, road base, asphalt | End Tipper | Rear-tip with under-bin stabiliser; 22–43 m³ for site and short-haul work. |
| Agricultural — grain, feed, sugar cane & citrus bins | Dropside Tipper | Hinged 800 mm / 1.2 m sides for fast loading; up to 35,860 kg. |
The right trailer is half the delivery.
Trailer choice is an operational decision, not an afterthought. The wrong fit costs money in damage, delay and re-handling; the right one moves cargo safely, legally and on time.
Equipment matched to the load means correct restraint, balance and discharge — fewer shifts, spills and incidents in transit.
Deck length, sidewall height, bin volume and floor type chosen for the cargo profile — not forced onto whatever is available.
Reefers hold the cold chain, curtainsiders shield from weather, lowbeds carry abnormal mass — the load arrives as it left.
Any-side flatdecks, dropsides and walking floors cut loading and discharge time — faster turnarounds at both ends.
Axle groups and combinations specced to the corridor and its bridges, gradients and road condition — Cape to Copperbelt.
Combinations kept inside the SADC envelope; abnormal loads pre-cleared with RTMC permits and route surveys before dispatch.
Tare-optimised trailers maximise legal payload per trip — more tonnes moved, fewer loads, lower cost per tonne.
Own fleet, own drivers, one dispatch desk — the trailer you book is the trailer that arrives, tracked end-to-end.
Trailer support for regional freight corridors.
Our trailers run the established Southern African trade routes — each corridor favouring a different mix of equipment. We plan the lane, the load and the documentation around the corridor your cargo travels.
- Route planning — lane, transit time and corridor selection matched to the trailer combination.
- Border documentation — clearance paperwork prepared ahead of the queue, not at it.
- Cargo securing — restraint, balance and load-method checks before the trailer leaves.
- Load compatibility — mass, dimension and axle checks against the SADC envelope.
- Corridor monitoring — the load tracked end-to-end on a single platform.
- Delivery coordination — one dispatch desk from origin gate to destination.
